Avenue Q to open in Israel

A few short weeks ago I was writing about Avenue Q opening in San Francisco, while we were there. Well now they are now opening in Israel on 23 October. Ilan Savir, the director of the Holon Puppet Theatre and International Puppetry Festival in Israel, is the puppetry coach for the Israeli production. He sent me this cute video of the Avenue Q performers in training for their Tel Aviv opening. After a 2003 opening on Broadway, the production garnered several Tony awards, spawned a Las Vegas show, a West End production and several international productions. The show here will be directed by Moshe Kaftan and will star Roi Bar Natan, Idan Alterman, Tali Oren, Niki Goldstein, Michal Yanai, and Nir Shalmon among others. Instead of the Gary Coleman character from Broadway, they brought Michal Yanay (the blond girl) who apparently used to be a big kids star in Israel. PS. Check out the new Q-TV commercial on their website!
